Traditional video analytics pipelines depend heavily on cloud processing, which introduces latency, increases costs, and often raises privacy concerns. In our labs, we are experimenting with edge AI solutions that push inference directly onto small devices like NVIDIA Jetson, Coral TPU, or even optimized ARM boards. The goal is to process video frames in real time—detecting anomalies, tracking objects, or generating safety alerts—without relying on a persistent cloud connection. By optimizing models through quantization and pruning, we achieved up to 6× faster inference while consuming less power. These edge deployments not only reduce infrastructure costs but also ensure sensitive data stays local. We see enormous potential in applying this to smart cities, industrial safety, and retail analytics.
